Rory McIlroy ‘could barely get out of bed’ as Masters winner details Augusta aftermath
Rory McIlroy admitted he was practically bed-bound after picking up an illness on his week-long Masters celebration. The five-time major winner, whose green jacket made him only the sixth golfer in history to complete the Career Grand Slam, is in Louisiana this week to team up with old pal Shane Lowry at the Zurich Classic.
Lowry admitted he wasn’t sure whether McIlroy would join him to defend their Zurich Classic title while watching him fight for victory at Augusta. And McIlroy’s place did look to be in jeopardy when he came down with a cold after a long and jubilant trip to celebrate with his loved ones.
