Premier League issue explanation as Bournemouth star escapes red card vs Man Utd
The Premier League have clarified the reason Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams escaped a red card just before Manchester United conceded on their visit to the south coast. In the 21st minute, Adams’ forceful challenge on Alejandro Garnacho was deemed only worthy of a yellow by referee Peter Bankes.
VAR official John Brooks at Stockley Park took a moment to review the incident but ultimately upheld the decision, ruling out a sending off. The Premier League Match Centre provided an explanation on X, stating: “The referee’s call of yellow card for the challenge by Adams on Garnacho was checked and confirmed by VAR – with the challenge deemed reckless and not serious foul play.”
