Novak Djokovic denied 100th title as teenager Jakub Mensik stuns veteran in Miami Open final

Jakub Mensik denied his idol Novak Djokovic a 100th ATP title by beating him in the Miami Open final 7-6(4) 7-6(4). It was the first ATP title win for the Czech teenager.

Novak Djokovic suffered a crushing defeat against a teenager as Czech  Jakub Mensik denied his idol the Miami Open title with a 7-6(4) 7-6(4) win in the final on Sunday. This is 19-year-old Mensik’s first ATP title while Djokovic fell short of his milestone 100th.

The 54th-ranked Mensik faced tough odds in only his second ATP final but harnessed his best weapon to subdue the 24-times major winner with 14 aces.

The 37-year-old Djokovic had hoped to join Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103) as the only men in the Open Era with 100 or more career titles but could not match the teenager’s speed and creative play.
