Martin Brundle issues scathing verdict on Red Bull’s Liam Lawson axe – ‘A mess’

Red Bull are facing criticism for axing Liam Lawson just two races into the new Formula 1 season and promoting Yuki Tsunoda to become Max Verstappen’s new team-mate

Martin Brundle has branded Red Bull’s driver situation “a mess” following the controversial decision to drop Liam Lawson. After just two rounds of the new Formula 1 season, the team has decided to act following the Kiwi’s desperately poor start to life as Max Verstappen’s team-mate.

Lawson did not score a single point across those first two rounds, while also included a sprint race in Shanghai. Qualifying results of 18th and then 20th twice at the Chinese Grand Prix did nothing to reassure Red Bull chiefs that he would get to grips with the tricky RB21 car any time soon.
