After being sacked by Everton, former manager Sean Dyche has outlined the scale of the challenge he faced on Merseyside, where “every day there was another bomb going off”

Sean Dyche has opened up about the dire state of affairs he encountered when he took the reins at Everton. Dyche was sacked in January 2025 amid a struggle to stave off yet another relegation scrap, with Everton perched perilously one point above the drop zone.

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker enquired about the challenging circumstances Dyche stepped into, where the Toffees faced points penalties for breaching Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) – but that was merely the tip of the iceberg across his two-year tenure.
