F1 calendar braced for major contract news as endangered Grand Prix learns its fate

The Mexican Grand Prix is seemingly in line for a contract extension after the head of government in Mexico City, Clara Brugaga, explained that the new agreement will be signed ‘next week’. The iconic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez produces one of the most exhilarating atmospheres on the F1 calendar, but the race’s contract is due to expire at the end of the 2025 season. The Mexican GP’s terms were most recently extended in 2022.

However, when Sergio Perez was dropped from the grid at the end of the 2024 campaign, concerns were raised about whether or not the race would remain on the schedule moving forward. With such intense competition for spots on the calendar, nearly every circuit is sweating over its security.
