Eze has been quiet at times this season but return to best has come at perfect for Eagles

Eberechi Eze lit up Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Craven Cottage to such an extent that he even surprised his own manager.

Told that Eze had used his weaker left foot to assist Ismaila Sarr for Crystal Palace’s second goal in their 3-0 win over Fulham just five minutes after scoring a blinding opener with his right, Eagles boss Oliver Glasner replied: “Really? I didn’t know! Usually, he uses the outside of his right foot!”

Deservedly awarded man of the match, an Eze in this rich vein of form will ensure the Eagles finish this campaign with some serious swagger. They have 10 games left of their Premier League season, are 12th in the table, and want to finish in the top half. One is hard-pushed to remember a time when securing a spot in the top 10 was quite as impressive a feat as it is right now.
