Indian javelin thrower DP Manu has been handed a four-year doping ban by NADA after testing positive for Methyltestosterone during the Indian Grand Prix 2024. His suspension is backdated to June 2024, which means he will be out of action until June 2028.
Indian javelin thrower DP Manu has been slapped with a four-year suspension by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). Manu was among 134 athletes named in the list published by NADA’s Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) dated 13 January 2025, which stated that the 25-year-old had been provisionally suspended after testing positive for Methyltestosterone, a prohibited substance.
Now, he has been handed a four-year ban for testing positive during the Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru in 2024. His suspension has been backdated to 24 June 2024, the day he was provisionally suspended ahead of the National Inter-State Athletics Championships.
Manu will now be ineligible to compete until June 2028, ruling him out of the 2026 Asian Games and potentially the 2028 LA Olympics. Manu, who boasts a personal best of 84.35m (achieved in 2022), was a serious contender for Olympic qualification through the world rankings.
