Atherton LR end 10-year wait as Jones’ side clinch title
After a 10-year long wait, Atherton LR find themselves back in the NWCFL Premier Division after becoming champions of the NWCFL First Division North on Saturday with a 6-0 thrashing of Bacup Borough on home soil.
With three points needed to secure the title, anything else would have taken the league down to the final game which for LR, would have been AFC Blackpool away – so Dave Jones’ side wanted to lift the league in their own back yard.
