Arsenal have missed out on a cash windfall of £1million after Southampton were relegated from the Premier League.
The Gunners sold goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton last summer and the deal included a survival bonus for Arsenal if Saints beat the drop this season.
The Gunners replaced Ramsdale by signing Neto on loan from Bournemouth on transfer deadline day last summer.
