Ange Postecoglou: Necessary Tottenham changes made it tough to beat Liverpool
Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham “paid the price” for his rotation as his side slumped to a 19th league defeat of the season against Liverpool, who wrapped up a 20th league title with a resounding 5-1 win at Anfield.
Defenders Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were on the bench and Rodrigo Bentancur was left out of the squad altogether, as Postecoglou protected his key players ahead of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final first leg against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.
“It’s not easy, it’s not easy on the players because if you sort of look at Liverpool’s line-up you can almost pick it on a weekly basis,” Postecoglou said afterwards.
