Newcastle United fans made the most of their chance to celebrate as wildly as possible today with their Carabao Cup heroes after ending 70 years of hurt with their first domestic trophy since 1955. The Magpies beat Liverpool 2-1 in the final at Wembley on March 16 thanks to goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak, which were enough to down Arne Slot’s men.
It was a triumph for the entire city as more than 150,000 fans flocked to the streets to savour a memorable day on Tyneside. Eddie Howe, who became the first English manager to lift a major trophy since Harry Redknapp in 2008, held the silverware aloft alongside his Newcastle players, with Isak, Burn, Joelinton, Anthony Gordon, Fabian Schar and Bruno Guimaraes some of the other passionate celebrators amongst the squad.
